| A vibrating object produces sound waves that cannot be seen with the naked eye. The sound waves travel to the ear which is how we hear. These waves carry energy without actually transmitting any matter. When vibration occurs it causes molecules to move back and forth. This is called reflection and rarefaction. It is illustrated by a tuning fork. Explain what would happen if you covered a tuning fork with a pillow after it was struck. Provide an explanation as to why this would happen. | |||||
